About Pungo Charters
Pungo Charters is an exclusive fishing guide service offered by Captain Hugh Sutton in Belhaven, North Carolina, a town where there are more fish, than people. We offer the best year-round fishing trips on the Pungo River and Pamlico Sound waters. Trips start at daybreak and end back at the dock at 3:00 pm.
All charters leave at the home of Capt. Hugh Sutton on Pungo Creek. Depending on the time of year, catches include speckled trout, flounder, striped bass, red drum (including slot drum and bull drum). The fishing is all light tackle with lures and either live bait or cut bait.
When fishing in coastal waters, no fishing license is required. There is a blanket license for the boat. If the trip includes fishing in inland waters, an inland fishing license is required and can be purchased online upon arrival.
The charter boat used for fishing is a 2019 Avenger Bay that has plenty of room and comfort for fishing in these waters.

Meet Captain Hugh Sutton
Capt. Hugh Sutton has fished inshore and offshore in the Belhaven area for 40 years. After retirement in 2018, he decided to share the enjoyment of fishing with others so that either experience anglers or the occasional angler could enjoy a great time on the water.

Rates & Lodging
Price for the trip is $525.00 for up to three persons. All tackle, cooler space for refreshments and fish will be provided.
Lodging can be provided on the site for an additional $150.00, starting January 1st, 2023. A $200.00 deposit is required and if the anglers are happy with the service, a 15% to 20% tip would be accepted.
